CERAMIC SURFACE DESIGN : SILKSCREEN & SLIP TRANSFERS *SOLD OUT*

Want to learn more about ceramics and surface decoration?  This workshop covers the basics of silkscreens and their applications in ceramics. We will cover a basic DIY set-up and production of a new screen with photo-sensitive emulsion and your custom art work! We will also explore making and using paper transfers, underglazes and surface decoration techniques.

Includes all materials, samples and supplies. Each student will have the opportunity to decorate one ceramic tumbler. There will be lots of take home transfers as well. PLEASE NOTE: all work will be fired and ready for pick up at The Shop within 1 week.

You are welcome to submit high rez, blank and white artwork before the workshop for the class screen, but it is not necessary. Artwork should be linework or graphic, and may be altered slightly for better production - please submit photos one week before class.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Alexx Boisjoli has run the production studio, rcboisjoli for 9 years in Toronto’s west end. With a focus on domestic goods and craft based production, he has designed and fabricated a line of functional ceramics with an industrial, graphic quality. Hand turned forms, slip casting and silk-screened decals form the base of his fabrication methods. Inspired by a rich history of ceramics, he produces handsome quality wares for everyday use.
